Box Score FLORENCE, Ky. – The Hanover Panthers used a five run fifth inning to capture the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference victory over the Mount St. Joseph Lions, 9-1.
The Panthers were led in the contest by senior
Justin Pope (Fishers, Ind.), pitching eight complete innings allowing just one run on six hits.
Hanover found themselves trailing early when freshman
Connor Farnsley (Jeffersonville, Ind.) doubled to left field scoring junior
Andrew Littlefield (Louisville, Ky.), knotting the contest 1-1 in the top of the third inning.
Freshman
Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.) doubled down the left field line later in the inning plating two more runs for the Blue and Red en route to the 3-1 advantage.
The fifth inning saw the Panther bats come alive as sophomore
Cole Sherman (Indianapolis, Ind.) hit a shot to the short stop that scored both Christie and freshman
Eric Roudebush (New Palestine, Ind.) extending their lead to 5-1. Hanover went on to add three more runs in the inning as junior
Charlie Burton (Columbus, Ind.) singled to left field scoring Littlefield.
Christie provided the final blow of the contest as he added to his season homerun total of four with a shot that propelled the Blue and Red to the 9-1 victory.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, April 17 when they take on Anderson. The first pitch is slated for 1:00 PM.
