Box Score 2 HANOVER, Ind. - The Hanover Panthers welcomed Anderson in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action on Saturday afternoon, splitting wih the Ravens. The Panthers took game one in dramatic fashion as junior
Charlie Burton (Columbus, Ind.) hit a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth with two outs, 7-6 before the Blue and Red fell in the night cap 7-5.
GAME ONE
Hanover trailed for most of the contest as the Ravens plated two runs in the top of the fourth inning and one run in the sixth inning before the Panthers responded. Senior
Matt Vetor (Pendleton, Ind.) plated the Panthers first run of the afternoon as he drew a walk that scored freshman Alex Chrisite (Greenwood, Ind.).Â
However, Anderson tacked on three more runs in the top of the eighth inning for the 6-1Â lead.Â
The Panthers refused to roll over as junior
Charlie Burton (Columbus, Ind.) hit a double to center field in the bottom half of the inning scoring junior
Andrew Littlefield (Louisville, Ky.), 6-2.
Burton handled the rest as he approached the plate in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs and the bases loaded. The junior delivered as he went yard for a grand slam tying the contest at 6-6.Â
Hanover tacked on the final run off the bat of freshman
Eric Roudebush (New Palestine, Ind.) who singled to center field charting the game-winning RBI, 7-6.Â
GAME TWO
Anderson surged ahead early in game two plating runs in the top of the first inning, one in the second inning and three in the third inning to capture the 5-1 advantage.
Hanover looked to respond in the bottom of the fifth inning as Littlefield hit a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Vetor cutting the difference to 5-2. Burton went yard once more on his next at bat with a solo shot that pulled HC within 5-3.Â
The Ravens remained poise and were able to tack on a pair of insurance runs in the top of the sixth inning as they pushed the lead back to 7-3.
Christie provided the final blows for Hanover as he singles to left field scoring senior
Zeke Porta (Louisville, Ky.) in the bottom of the seventh inning before charting an RBI in the ninth inning for the games final run, 7-5.
Hanover returns to action on Sunday, April 18 when they take on Rose-Hulman.Â
