Box Score LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Hanover baseball team dropped a Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match-up on Friday evening at Transylvania. The Panthers fell in the contest 8-5.
The Panthers struck first in the contest as freshman
Connor Farnsley (Jeffersonville, Ind.) provided an RBI single to right center scoring junior
Andrew Littlefield (Louisville, Ky.) for the 1-0 advantage.
Transylvania responded in the bottom of the second inning as a single to center plated the tying run. They tacked on four more runs in the third inning and one in the fourth to push the difference to 5-1.
However, Hanover responded in the top of the fifth inning as senior
Zeke Porta (Louisville, Ky.) charted his third dinger of the season scoring freshman
Eric Roudebush (New Palestine, Ind.) and cutting the difference to 6-3.
The Pioneers would tack on two more runs before the Panther looked to rally in the top of the ninth inning. Roudebush provided the first blow with a homer to right center before Farnsley hit a single to center scoring sophomore
Spencer Martinelle (Indianapolis, Ind.) but Transylvania was able to retire the side en route to the 8-5 victory.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, April 3 when they travel to Franklin. First pitch is set for 1:00 PM.
