Panthers conclude the weekend splitting a doubleheader with OWU

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers wrapped up their non-conference series with the Battling Bishops of Ohio Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon, winning game one 14-2 before falling in the nightcap 19-5.

GAME ONE
Hanover took the front end of a doubleheader in dominate fashion, defeating the Battling Bishops 14-2. Freshman Chris Hautman (Lawrenceburg, Ind.) picked up the win for the Panthers as he charted two strikeouts on seven batters faced.

The Blue and Red jumped ahead to the 1-0 lead as senior Charlie Burton (Columbus, Ind.) provided the RBI to left field, 1-0.

The second inning would see a Panther scoring frenzy as sophomore Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.) drew a walk scoring sophomore Brady Pennington (Speedway, Ind.) before Burton picked up his second RBI. The final run of the inning came off the bat of sophomore Connor Farnsley (Jeffersonville, Ind.) who pushed HC to the 4-0 lead.

They added some insurance runs in the bottom of the third inning with senior Andrew Littlefield (Louisville, Ky.) providing the big stick cranking a double that helped push three runs across the plate.

Christie deemed clutch for the Panthers in the fourth inning as he singled to left field extending the HC lead to double digits, 10-0.

The final Panther run came in the bottom of the sixth inning as junior Cole Sherman (Indianapolis, Ind.) doubled to center field securing the 14-2 victory.

GAME TWO
The Panther found themselves trailing 1-0 when freshman Andrew Oesterling (Batesville, Ind.) homered in the bottom of the second inning tying the game. They tacked on two more runs as freshman Jake Danneman (Edgewood, Ky.) provided a two run homer giving HC the 3-1 lead.

However, the Battling Bishops responded using a seven run third inning, two run fourth inning, and two run fifth inning to capture the 12-3 advantage.

Hanover added one run in the bottom of the sixth inning and one in the seventh inning before ultimately dropping the non-conference match-up.

Hanover returns to action on Tuesday, March 29 when they open Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference action with Mt. St. Joseph. First pitch is slated for noon.
