Box Score HANOVER, Ind. – The Hanover Panthers welcomed non-conference foe Spalding to K.T. Young Ballpark on Tuesday afternoon, winning the contest 12-11.
Senior
Charlie Burton (Columbus, Ind.) led the charge with a team-high five RBI on three hits. Freshman Braxton Graner (Bowling Green, Ky.) picked up the first career win with two strikeouts.
The game took off quickly with the Golden Eagles plating three runs in the top of the first inning.
However, Hanover responded in the bottom half of the inning with Burton picking up the Panthers first RBI. Freshman
Andrew Oesterling (Batesville, Ind.) handled the rest as he tacked on two more runs in the inning to knot the game at 3-3.
But Spalding surged ahead once more when Burton deemed clutch with an RBI single to left field that tied the contest 4-4.
The Panthers used a flurry of runs in the fourth inning to claim their first lead of the afternoon 9-4. Leading the five-run charge was the senior Burton who homered scoring two Hanover runners.
After surrendering two runs in the sixth inning and three runs in the seventh inning the Panthers found themselves locked at 9-9.
However, it wouldn't last long as senior
Andrew Littlefield (Louisville, Ky.) picked up an RBI with a single to right field, 10-9. The final run came off the bat of Burton who tallied five RBI in rout to the Panther slim 12-11 victory.
Hanover returns to action on Saturday, April 16 when they travel to Anderson. First pitch of the HCAC doubleheader is set for 12 PM.
