Box Score DANVILLE, Ky. – The Panthers (7-11 overall, 1-2 HCAC) surrendered a non-conference contest to the Colonels of Centre on Tuesday evening, dropping the game 5-4.
Sophomore
Ashton Dickmann (Greenfield, Ind.) got the start throwing six complete innings surrendering just two earned runs.
The Panthers surged ahead in the top of the second inning as sophomore
Grady Stickney (Cincinnati, Ohio) plated the game's first run following a single to left field scoring senior
Jacob Dupps (Louisville, Ky.), 1-0. The scoring outburst continued as senior
Spencer Martinelle (Indianapolis, Ind.) tripled to right field picking up an RBI before sophomore
Sam Perkins (Louisville, Ky.) scored the final run of the inning pushing the difference to 3-0.
However, the bottom half of the inning would see Centre respond plating two runs on one hit cutting the difference to 3-2.
Hanover added what would become their final run of the contest in the top of the eighth inning on a Centre wild pitch that propelled HC to the 4-3 lead.
But the Colonels refused to surrender as they added two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning following a Blue and Red mishap for the 5-4 win.
The Panther return to action on Saturday, April 1 and Sunday, April 2 when they travel to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Franklin.
