Hanover rallies in HCAC split with Manchester

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HANOVER, Ind. – The Panthers (12-21 overall, 6-10 HCAC) earned a key Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference split on Saturday afternoon dropping game one 7-4 before taking game two 16-7.
 
GAME ONE
Manchester posted a four run second inning including a two run homerun that gave them the early advantage.
 
However, junior Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.) sparked a two run third inning as he hit a shot to left field tying the Hanover single season honmerun record with 11 total, 1-0. Sophomore Grady Stickney (Cincinnati, Ohio) added the final RBI of the inning as Hanover pulled within 4-2.
 
Hanover knotted the contest 4-4 in the bottom of the fourth inning with the designated hitter junior Connor Farnsley (Jeffersonville, Ind.) connecting for a shallow RBI that plated two runs.
 
Manchester remained poise adding a run in the top of the sixth inning and one run in the seventh inning for the 6-4 lead.
 
The final Spartan run came in the eighth inning as they secured the game one win, 7-4.
 
GAME TWO
The Panthers scored early and often as a one run first inning gave them the 1-0 lead. Farnsley provided the RBI scoring sophomore Jake Danneman (Edgewood, Ky.).
 
They added another run in the second inning as sophomore Sam Perkins (Louisville, Ky.) provided the clutch RBI, 2-0.
 
However, Manchester plated three runs in the fourth inning and four in the fifth inning to capture the 7-2 lead.
 
The Panthers used a stampede of runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to cut into the Spartan advantage. Farnsley added the first RBI of the inning when senior Spencer Martinelle (Indianapolis, Ind.) doubled plating two more Panther runs, 7-5. Perkins connected for the final RBI as HC cut the lead to 7-6.
 
They took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning when senior Jacob Dupps (Louisville, Ky.) went yard to give Hanover the 9-7 lead.
 
Hanover used a seven run eighth inning to claim the 16-7 victory.
 
The rest was history as junior Marcus Goodpaster (Indianapolis, Ind.) remained perfect on the mound throwing eight complete innings.
 
Hanover returns to action on Sunday, April 30 when they travel to HCAC foe Anderson.
