Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.) sets single season home run record as Hanover (13-22 overall, 7-11 HCAC) earns split with Anderson.
GAME ONE
Junior
Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.) etched his name into the record books as part of a marathon game against Anderson. The Panthers surrendered the contest 17-16.
The junior became the Hanover single season home run leader in the top of the first inning as he hit a dinger to center field that put HC on top 2-0.
Senior
Jacob Dupps (Louisville, Ky.) kept the excitement going as he singled to center field adding another Hanover run, 3-0. Sophomore
Sam Perkins (Louisville, Ky.) plated the innings final runs following an Anderson mishap that pushed HC on top 5-0.
However, the Ravens answered in the bottom half of the inning tying the contest 5-5.
Junior
Connor Farnsley (Jeffersonville, Ind.) picked up his first RBI in the next half inning scoring sophomore
Jake Danneman (Edgewood, Ky.), 6-5.
The Panthers added a big inning in the top of the third scoring four runs. Leading the surge was freshman
Robert Carroll (Hendersonville, Tenn.) with a triple before junior
Eric Roudebush (New Palestine, Ind.) doubled pushing Hanover on top 10-6.
The fourth inning would see senior
Spencer Martinelle (Indianapolis, Ind.) add an RBI as he drew a walk that capped a three run inning, 13-6.
However, Anderson responded in the bottom of the seventh inning plating eight runs on six hits and three Panther errors to claim the 16-14 lead.
Hanover tied the score in the ninth inning as Farnsley singled through the left side scoring two runs, 16-16.
Anderson got the final say plating the winning run in the bottom half of the inning after a Hanover wild pitch propelled them to victory.
GAME TWO
Christie opened game two much like game one as he connected for a home run before Martinelle added an RBI. The scoring outburst ensued with both sophomore
Reid Douglas (Rossville, Ind.) and Carroll charting RBI, 6-0.
Anderson added one run in the bottom half of the inning when the Panther offense erupted once more. Farnsley provided the clutch hit pushing HC out front 8-2.
They added an insurance run in the top of the fifth inning with Danneman dealing the clutch RBI, 9-5.
Hanover returns to action Saturday, May 6 when they travel to Defiance. First pitch is slated for 12:00 PM.
