Box Score 2 LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Hanover Panthers (16-23 overall, 10-12 HCAC) wrapped up the regular season on Sunday afternoon splitting with Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Bluffton. The Panthers claimed game one in seven innings 17-2 before surrendering the night cap 5-2.
GAME ONE
The Panthers jumped ahead in the bottom of the second inning as
Reid Douglas led off the scoring frenzy. Douglas scored two runs when sophomore
Sam Perkins (Louisville, Ky.) came to the dish pushing two more Panther runs across. The final run of the inning came from the bat of freshman
Robert Carroll (Hendersonville, Tenn.) as HC claimed the 5-0 advantage.
Bluffton got one run back in the next half inning before the Hanover offense erupted once more. Carroll again deemed clutch with a sacrifice fly when junior
Alex Christie (Greenwood, Ind.) claimed his first of the afternoon. Closing out the inning was senior
Jacob Dupps (Louisville, Ky.) who singled to right field, 10-1.
With the contest well in hand, the Panthers tacked on insurance runs in the fifth and three in the sixth en route to the win.
GAME TWO
The Beavers drew first blood in game number two scoring three runs in the top of the first inning.
Hanover would get one run back in the bottom of the third inning off the bat of junior
Connor Farnsley (Jeffersonville, Ind.) who singled to left field, 3-1.
They added another run in the bottom of the fifth inning following a senior
Spencer Martinelle (Indianapolis, Ind.) walk that pulled them within 3-2.
However, Bluffton refused to be tamed using a two run seventh to capture the 5-2 win.
